These are counts in one KanjiVG snapshot. A count is not a rule of stroke order. The page makes no claim about meaning.

Cinnabar is the first slot in slots_of order. Indigo is the next slot. A thicker stroke is that slot’s last stroke. The color is data-valence-slots. The thickness is data-finish-strokes. A plate without those attributes is not recolored. Click a plate to replay. With reduced motion the finished character stays still, and the colors stay. The draw timings are unchanged. The plate stays cream in either theme.

How a completion rank is read

Completion rank
k/n. k is the index of the slot’s last stroke. n is the character’s stroke count. The stored rank is 1000·k/n, rounded half up. The mean and the median on this page are the half-up mean and the half-up median of those integers.
Tenth
The bin b of k/n, from 0 to 9, with k/n in (b/10, (b+1)/10]. b = ⌈10k/n⌉ − 1. The helper is rank_tenth in tools/stroke_start.py. A rank of 1 falls in the last tenth.
Slot
One immediate slot from slots_of in tools/valence_atlas.py, on the character group only. A run of paths is one slot. Sibling groups that share kvg:element and kvg:number and carry kvg:part are one slot. The slots’ strokes partition strokes 1 through n.
Family
left, right, top, bottom, kamae, tare, and nyo are へん, つくり, かんむり, あし, かまえ, たれ, and にょう. A slot with no kvg:position is none. The atlas records a path run as strokes and a group as plain. Any other stored position is other.
Finishes last
The slot contains stroke n, so k = n. Each character has one such slot. A slot can contain stroke n and still be interrupted. That is not the unbroken “written last” count on the positions page.
First-started
The slot whose earliest stroke has the smallest index. The earliest stroke of the character is stroke 1, so one slot starts at stroke 1.
First-finished
The slot whose last stroke has the smallest index. That slot finishes before every other slot.
Finish order differs
Sorting the slots by their first stroke is not the same sequence as sorting them by their last stroke. On an arity-2 character this is the same as the first-finished slot having started later.
Arity
The number of top-level slots. It is not a stroke count. In this snapshot the maximum is 4, so the valence-atlas bucket of four or more is the nine characters of arity 4.
