These are counts in one KanjiVG snapshot. A count is not a rule of stroke order. The page makes no claim about meaning.

Cinnabar is the spatially first role, indigo the next, ochre the third. The colors are data-stroke-highlight. A plate without that attribute is not recolored. Click a plate to replay. With reduced motion the finished character stays still, and the colors stay. The draw timings are unchanged. The plate stays cream in either theme.

How a sibling is read

Group tree
The tree starts at the character group. An internal node is every g in that tree, including the character group. A child is an immediate g or path. Depth 1 is the character group. A group child is one deeper. A path is not a node.
Counted node
A node with two or more children that carry kvg:position. A child with no position is not one of those children.
Role
Children with the same kvg:position are one role. The role’s strokes are the union. Pieces with kvg:part stay apart when the positions differ. The slot join used on the left-right page is not used here.
Spatial order
Left before right. Top before bottom. Top, then middle, then bottom. kamae before kamaec, tare before tarec, nyo before nyoc. The spatially first role is the first of these. The outer frame is first in that list. Which role is written first is counted separately, because the frames do not agree.
Successive blocks
Each role is one block when its stroke numbers are exactly the integers from the minimum to the maximum, with no duplicate. The roles are successive when, ordered by the first stroke, each block ends on the stroke before the next block starts.
Starts first
The spatially first role’s minimum stroke number is strictly less than every other role’s minimum.
Split
The roles are not successive blocks. A role is not one block, two blocks overlap, or a stroke sits between them. A frame whose parts bracket the inside is split.
No spatial order
The set of positions is not one of the orders above. Two children with the same position, and a mix such as kamae with left and right, are in this set. The node is counted. No order is invented for it.
