筆順 · the phonetic mark, first or last
Phonetic part first or last
Where the group marked with kvg:phon falls in the stroke order, set beside the radical figures, for each position of that group.
kvg:phon marks a phoneticum; the project’s own notes call the values inconsistent. The attribute is in the KanjiVG files. This page counts those markings. It makes no etymology claims.
These are counts of file markings in one KanjiVG snapshot. A phonetic mark in a given position has no obligation, from these counts, to be written first, last, or around the other strokes.

What is counted
- The phonetic mark
- Every element group whose
kvg:phonis non-empty. The character group counts when the mark is on that group. On a character with more than one such group, the strokes are the union. In this snapshot the groups on one character do not share a stroke. - First
- One unbroken run, starting at stroke 1, with some other stroke still to come.
- Last
- One unbroken run, ending on stroke N, with some other stroke already written.
- Split
- Two or more runs, so other strokes are written in a gap. A
kvg:partsplit whose pieces are not one run is this class. A split that also holds stroke 1 and stroke N stays inside the split count. - In the middle
- One unbroken run that is neither the start nor the end.
- The whole character
- The marked strokes are every stroke of the character. That character is counted here, and the first cell and the last cell stay empty for it.
- Position
kvg:positionon the marked group.left, right, top, bottom, kamae, tare, andnyoare へん, つくり, かんむり, あし, かまえ, たれ, and にょう. No attribute is なし. Any other stored value keeps its own row, under that value. When the groups on one character do not share one position, the row is 複数.
The two counts
The first row is the phonetic mark. The second row is the radical marked general, read from the radical-order data file. The two rows are different sets of characters.

Position of the mark
One row is one position. The character is counted once. The phonetic columns add to the total. A radical cell is the matching row in the radical-order file, where that file has one. A dash is a cell that file does not publish. The radical total is the second row above.

Shares, by position
Each bar is that row’s characters, stacked to the same height. The table has the counts. The number under a bar is the character count. The radical figures stay in the table.
