Counts only. No conclusions are drawn from small groups. These are counts in one KanjiVG snapshot. A count is not a rule of stroke order, and it does not say what a character means.

When a changed stroke has been drawn it stays cinnabar. Click a plate to replay. With reduced motion the finished character stays still, and the color stays. The mark is optional data-stroke-highlight. A plate without it is not recolored. The plate stays cream in either theme. The draw timings are unchanged.

How an occurrence is classed

Radical
A Kangxi radical, Unicode U+2F00 through U+2FD5, whose compatibility decomposition is a jōyō character. There are 214 Kangxi radicals. A radical is on this page when that ideograph is jōyō. Variant forms that are not that ideograph are not radicals here. 扌 is not 手. 氵 is not 水.
Occurrence
One return value of instances_of in tools/component_order.py whose kvg:element is that ideograph. It is not the character’s own outer group. Groups that carry kvg:part and share kvg:element and kvg:number are joined. A container whose strokes are exactly the strokes of two or more descendant copies of the same element is not an extra occurrence.
Reference
The kvg:type sequence of the radical’s own main file, in -sN order. Letters count. ㇑ and ㇑a differ. A slash is part of the string. ㇔/㇏ is not ㇏, and it is not ㇔. The stroke count is the length of that sequence.
Identical
The occurrence’s kvg:type sequence equals the reference, and the occurrence is not a kvg:part join. The gap, the strokes between the first and the last that do not belong to the occurrence, is 0.
Split by kvg:part
Dropped stroke
Fewer strokes than the reference.
Added stroke
Reordered
The same stroke count, and the letter-stripped types are the same multiset in a different order.
Merged and substituted
The same stroke count, not a reordering, at least one letter-stripped difference that contains a slash, and at least one letter-stripped difference that does not.
Shortened or merged
Type substitution
The same stroke count, and every letter-stripped difference has no slash. ㇏→㇔ is this cell. ㇏→㇔/㇏ is the shortened or merged cell.
Letter suffix
The letter-stripped sequences are equal, and a trailing letter differs. ㇑ and ㇑a are different kvg:type strings.
A small group
Counts only. No conclusions are drawn from small groups. A cell of two occurrences is still a count. A cell of no occurrences is a count of 0. A count is not a rule of stroke order, and it does not say what a character means.
Other pages
Element order consistency counts whether a kvg:element keeps one internal sequence. Order distance between equal shapes counts the distance between equal shapes. This page does not repeat those tables. The anchor here is the standalone character.

The cells

Each occurrence is in one cell. The nine counts add to the occurrences. A cell of 0 is a count. Counts only. No conclusions are drawn from small groups.

Cell Occurrences

By radical

On each row the nine cells add to the Occurrences column. The total row sums occurrences and the nine cells. The radical, the stroke count, and the hosts are not sums. The distinct hosts are in the paragraph. Counts only. No conclusions are drawn from small groups.

The substituted strings

Each n is a stroke index, not an occurrence. One occurrence can change more than one stroke. Counts only. No conclusions are drawn from small groups.
